We loved our visit to Japan and all the things that your organization organized for us. The Japanese people are wonderful hosts and we were constantly surprised by the kindness of strangers. The Taxi driver who went out of his way to return my cell phone left in his cab. A lady in a railway station who helped us find our way and buy the correct tickets for where we wanted to go, when all we saw were machines with everything written in Japanese. The man in the fish market area of Tokyo who offered us a map of the area written in English. The owner's wife of the ryokan, Yuki, who went out of her way to get me some boots to go up the mountain to see the Snow Monkeys in Yudanaka. Many other little things that made our visit so incredible, especially including our wonderful guides.
Itinerary
You organized everything so well, it helped us immensely. We tried our best to adhere to everything mapped out for us. The only major modification we made was to the visit to Tokyo Disney. We opted to rest and see the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace.
Lodging
The last hotel we stayed in, Shinagawa Prince Hotel, was not up to your normal standards. The hallways in the hotel were in awful condition and the rooms were not well cared for; there were stains on the walls, we were not able to turn down the heat and it was very uncomfortable, and the sheets were like sleeping on burs. All of the other accomadations that you put us in were stellar. Our favorite ryokan was in Yudanaka, it was gorgeous in a beautiful area and the owners could not have been nicer. They treated us like family and gave us transportation anywhere in the area we needed to go Yuki was a wonderful hostess.
Food
The presentation was beautiful. However, we are spoiled to a lot more meat. We understand the issues with having to import so much. We would have liked to have been given a little more detailed information how to order and what to order. In the ryokan's the breakfast was wonderful, however, the tradition of serving salads for breakfast was confusing.
Guides
Everyone went above and beyond our expectations. Charlie saw that my friend Jan and I were having walking issues after first getting there and he made appropriate suggestions. In Kyoto the first young lady,Izumi, gave us body warmers. She was incredibly nice, then Tammy joined us the next day we were truly spoiled.
