Best of Hokkaido and Tohoku
April 14, 2024 - April 28, 2024
Highly recommend this tour to have a glimpse of Northern Japan. We also tagged on a trip to Kanazawa, organised by Samurai , and all accommodation and transport was excellent, with great instructions.
Itinerary
Great coverage of what we wanted to see. More immersion into the culture. Less tourist numbers. Wonderful! This is our second tour, and we are already looking at a third.
Lodging
Excellent accommodation. Bathrooms can be a bit tight for room sometimes. Onsen hotels were amazing!! Lots of fun.
Food
Food in Japan is always good. Meals on tour were very thoughtful, and gave everyone a real experience of Japanese cuisine. I don’t eat raw fish, and meals were always changed out for me. Egg salad sandwiches from Lawson were delicious. (Not included)
Guides
Chiko-san, what a wonderful guide, and a lovely person. She made the tour so great. I had a few health issues early on, and Chiko could tweak the tour for me, so I could rest. Always organised. She did an amazing job, can’t praise her highly enough.
Pre-Tour Handbook
I think more info should be given to people about the sending on of bags, and what may be an alternative carry bag situation. We took small carry on roller bags, which worked well, but mostly everyone took back packs, which got heavier as the tour progressed. It is a good concept, but I think more explanation would be helpful for people experiencing it for the first time.
Tour Organization
Amazing coordination. Always on time, very punctual. Chiko could always make changes when we were early as well.
Tour Transportation
Planes, trains and taxis and buses, and shanks pony. Lots of fun and never boring.
