Best of Hokkaido

The only change I suggest is the Tour Factors rating on the Best of Hokkaido web page. I think the Pace category merits three stars because we sometimes board multiple trains, buses and taxis on a tight schedule in one day to arrive at a hotel.

Itinerary

Hokkaido\'s east coast offered a variety of scenery with refreshing cool temperatures.

Lodging

Good variety of Japanese and Western hotel rooms near prominent sites, such as Shiretoko, Lake Akan and Lake Toya. The hotel staff are very courteous and accommodating.

Food

Some of the hotel dining rooms were gigantic, with buffets to match.

Guides

It was an honour to have the company owner guide us across Hokkaido.

Pre-Tour Handbook

Good descriptions in our personal itinerary with the date matched with the activities. Keep in mind that changing weather can affect a cruise, hike or ropeway trip.
