I’m glad I had the opportunity to experience a ryokan (several of them!) - definitely a ‘5’ experience. But not having a private bathroom is definitely an acquired taste. I’m not there yet.

All the meals were fabulous!!!

All the guides were kind and helpful.Our main guide, Hitomi Hirasawa, was absolutely outstanding!! I can’t say enough good things about her. She was one of the very best guides we’ve ever had on a tour. Her professionalism (her excellent communication and organizational skills, and her knowledge and resourcefulness) and warm personality made us feel very comfortable with her, with our tour mates, and with everyone we met along the way. She’s very thoughtful and kind, and she was always thinking about what was best for the group. We really appreciated all that she did for us. Thank you, Hitomi-san! We were so lucky to have you as our guide!
